Thank you for participating in the “School Counselor SI Survey” during the 2006-2007 academic year. From the information collected in this survey, we have developed the content for this free online professional training workshop – “Non-Suicidal Self-Injury in the Schools”. The purpose of this training workshop is to provide background information about non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), as well as practical tools for assessment and treatment of NSSI by school mental health professionals who work with adolescents within the school context. Thus, the training workshop is divided into three modules:
Each module includes a PowerPoint slideshow, downloadable resource documents, a complete reference list, and a brief quiz. Please note that you must receive a minimum score of 70% on each quiz in order to proceed to the subsequent training modules. This material has been developed in collaboration with Dr. Nancy Heath in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, McGill University and Dr. Victoria White Kress in the Department of Counseling and Special Education, Youngstown State University. At the end of the training workshop, you will be able to download a certificate of completion. We also ask each participant to take a moment to complete a brief training evaluation survey that will help us assess the effectiveness and improve this online training. The information collected may be used for purposes of publication and evaluation of this online training workshop. Please be assured that the privacy of all participants will be protected by reporting results for the overall group and not individual participants.
